Babta is committed to ethical, quality and environmental standards.
Q: How do we know that your eco-friendly & reusable fabric bags are ethically sourced?
Babta believes that the manufacture of its products should contribute to the social welfare and empowerment of workers. We have personally, ethically sourced and audited the factories in which our bags are made.
Babta Management regularly visits the overseas production facilities to ensure that they meet with our ethical, quality and environmental standards.
Q: Do you have an Environment and Ethical Policy?
Babta has applied strict criteria to the ethical sourcing of partner businesses to ensure that our products are fairly traded which is outlined in our Ethical Standards Manual.
We guarantee that no abusive work practices are used in the making of our products, whether in New Zealand or overseas, and we continually seek to empower our workers through the best practices within our industry.
Q: How eco-friendly is Babta?
We have put environmentally and earth-friendly measures into place in our daily activities and work processes so that our business success is not comprised of practices that harm the environment. We minimise the use of paper in the office, recycle packaging materials, raise awareness, encourage participation and train employees in environmental matters. We also actively influence suppliers to reduce their use of excessive and unnecessary packaging through on going campaigns and leading by example, as well as participating in campaigns that promote the awareness of environmental issues.
Babta is pro-active in working to reduce our carbon footprint and are proud members of the Sustainable Business Network and the Instep programme. We actively encourage and promote sustainability practices within our working environment and believe that every little step makes a positive change.
Over the last two decades, a plastic bag material has been developed and tested to the highest standards to give us a biodegradable plastic bag. The aim has been to make an additive that helps the plastic degrade and biodegrade quickly when disposed. The additive TDPA™ has become the most practical and economical way to accomplish this result.
Very simply the additive is added at the very beginning of making a plastic bag or product. Once the bag is disposed and is exposed to sunlight, heat and/or mechanical stress it will start the chemical oxidation process and allow the bag to breakdown. Babta has welcomed this advancement and uses the TDPA™ additive where possible in the making of plastic carry bags and other biodegradable product.
We are aware of the role we play as manufactures of packaging and depending on your requirements, we will explore or offer sustainable options for consideration.
“Our aim is to find the best mix of design, manufacturing process and materials that can reduce waste.”
